Windows XP Issues
Windows XP (or XP Professional) does not
pose any significant problems for Shop Trac. Several
issues have come forward in recent months, and this Tech Tip
was created to provide information on these issues. If
and when new issues arise, we will add to this list:
 | Shop Trac runs very slowly: Some
XP Home users have reported that Shop Trac runs very
slowly, and bogs down the whole system. Windows XP
differs in how DOS programs are treated as compared to
earlier operating systems. If you find that Shop
Trac runs too slow, follow this procedure: Browse to
the directory containing Shop Trac. Right click on
the files ST.EXE and choose "Properties". From the "Misc"
tab, set the "Idle Sensitivity" to "High". Repeat
this procedure for the file BTRIEVE.EXE. |
 | How do I print to a non local printer?
The "Capture Printer" button that was available in earlier
Windows has been removed from Windows XP. To connect
to a network printer you need to use the "NET USE"
command. For example: To connect LPT1: to a
printer called HP on computer named SERVER use the
command: NET USE LPT1: \\SERVER\HP from
a command prompt. We recommend that you place this
command in a BATCH file and add this batch file to the
Startup folder in your Start Menu to make this connection
each time the computer is turned on. |
