Current
Current Whats New 11/30/2003 Most of the
changes to IMS/ACTR/ACTP are maintenance items. In
general the code has been cleaned up in out attempt to allow
this system to run under new operating systems such as
Windows XP and Windows 2000. Our attempts at this were
unsuccessful as detailed in a new Tech Tip bulletin.
 | Even though we were unsuccessful in
porting IMS/ACTR/ACTP to Windows XP, several users have
been running it in an exclusive DOS box. This is not
ideal, but apparently it does work. We do not
support this method, but we have made a change to
accommodate it. An exclusive DOS box does not
inherit any environment variables, making the password
scheme used by IMS/ACTR/ACTP unusable. We have
modified the password process to allow this password to be
set when loading IMS/ACTR/ACTP. To use this feature,
add the SET PASSWORD line to the batch file used to load
the program. (Normally START.BAT). |
 | Support for PCL macros has been added
to all Invoicing and Receivable modules. This means
that you can use PCL forms without us needing to make
custom design changes to your system. Codes to
invoke and execute the macros are added to the printer
control codes. Contact us if you need help
implementing this. Users with existing PCL macros
can continue toi operate as they always have without using
this new feature. |
 | Some problems with duplicate records
being inserted into the Invoice History database have been
corrected. |
 | A final (we hope) Y2K bug has also been
eliminated. This was causing problems with the
zeroing of employee labour units. |
 | Since today's computers have more than
sufficient memory to operate IMS/ACTR/ACTP, most of the
code that was originally used to operate in smaller memory
block has been eliminated. This allows us greater
flexibility in maintaining existing versions. This
also means that IMS/ACTR/ACTP will not operate very well
on a non-Windows based computer. |
